Capturing your small wave surf sessions from start to finish
I’m Kirsty, a surf photographer capturing small waves and all the moments in between...
I initially picked up a camera and housing to shoot for friends. Frustrated with seeing the same faces, and feeling like only the good surfers get the shots, I decided to mix things up a bit and shoot for us average surfers who never get images of ourselves surfing.
My portfolio isn't a typical gallery of pro surfers, comps or big wave action shots. Or the over stylised images that create a false impression of how surfing, especially in the UK, really is.
I don't over edit either. My whole ethos is about keeping things simple and authentic.
Let's create something real...

01.
Fact 1
I lived in landlocked Wolverhampton before moving to Cornwall 10 years ago. I had no exposure to the sea and was a rubbish swimmer before my first surf lesson. I've since qualified as a lifeguard and surf instructor.
02.
Fact 2
I've always loved photography but shooting in-water really lit me up. It gives me as much joy as surfing.
03.
Fact 3
I own 6 film cameras including a waterproof 35mm. As if surf photography isn't tricky enough already, I decided to challenge myself further with the unpredictability of film!
04.
Fact 4
When I'm not shooting, surfing or working, I pool swim. Those kick drills are super helpful when swimming around in the sea with a camera!
